The problem
Businesses running multiple physical locations often coordinate operations through chaotic WhatsApp groups, where checklists get lost, incidents go unrecorded, announcements are missed, and shift handovers vanish into the chat scroll. There's no audit trail and no accountability.
The product needed to give owners real-time visibility across every branch at once, while still working for frontline staff on their phones without an app-store download.
Goals
- Replace ad-hoc WhatsApp coordination with a real operations system
- Track opening and closing checklist compliance across all locations
- Capture incidents with photos, assignment, and an audit trail
- Make announcements with proof they were actually read
- Preserve shift handover notes immutably, with role-based access
The solution
Lokvio is a multi-location operations hub I built and shipped solo. One real-time dashboard covers opening and closing checklists, photo-based incident reporting with assignment and an audit trail, announcements with per-user read receipts, and immutable, timestamped shift handover notes across every branch at once.
Access is role-based from Owner down through Area and Branch to Staff, so each person sees exactly what they should. It ships as an installable PWA, which means staff get an app-like experience on their phones without an App Store gatekeeper. The stack is Next.js, Supabase, Drizzle ORM, Better Auth, Resend, and Polar.sh.
Real-time multi-location view
Checklist compliance, incidents, and announcements roll up across every branch into one live dashboard for owners.
Accountability built in
Per-user read receipts on announcements and immutable, timestamped handover notes create the audit trail WhatsApp never could.
Installable PWA
Staff install it like an app on their phones, with no App Store submission, no download friction, and instant updates.
What it does
- Real-time checklist compliance across all locations
- Incident logging with photos, assignment & audit trail
- Announcements with per-user read tracking
- Immutable, timestamped shift handover notes
- Role-based access: Owner → Area → Branch → Staff
- Installable PWA, no App Store required
Challenges
Real-time across many locations
Owners needed an at-a-glance, live picture of every branch, which drove a real-time architecture rather than a request-refresh dashboard.
Immutability for trust
Handover notes had to be tamper-evident to be useful as a record, so they're stored immutably and timestamped rather than editable after the fact.

What I took from it
The competitor is often not another product but a messy status quo like a WhatsApp group; beating it means being structured without being heavier to use.
Shipping as a PWA sidesteps app-store friction entirely, which matters when the users are frontline staff who won't fight a download.
